InfoMusic: Death in Vegas are mai bine de două decenii de muzică, emoţii pe scenă, concerte. Ce vezi când priveşti în spate?
Death in Vegas: Nu-mi place să privesc în spate şi, să fiu sincer, nu prea sunt interesat de ce am făcut în trecut, nu mă gândesc decât la viitor şi la ce văd la orizont. Şi asta pentru că am impresia că dacă ne concentrăm prea mult pe ce a fost, procesul creativ are de suferit şi, ca artist, în mod constant încerc să-mi depăşesc limitele şi să fac mai mult.
InfoMusic: Anul trecut a apărut pe piaţă noul album, ”Transmission”, în care apare şi vocea fostei starlete porno, Sasha Grey. Cum a început această colaborare cu Sasha Grey? Datorită faptului că ea este fan Throbbing Gristle?
Death in Vegas: Ştiam un lucru, că voiam mai bine să lucrez cu un actor decât cu un cântăreţ. La multe proiecte am lucrat cu actori tineri şi mi-a plăcut să exersez cu cineva care ţine cont de indicaţii şi care nu este închistat în propriul stil de interpretare aşa cum majoritatea cântăreţilor sunt. Ştiam că Sasha este fan Death in Vegas, că este actriţă, că mai şi compune şi faptul că a colaborat cu Throbbing Gristle şi că-i placeau Chris Cosey au contat mult.
InfoMusic: În toţi aceşti ani ai fost responsabil pentru multe abume excepţionale, ai avut colaborări uimitoare cu artişti ca Iggy Pop sau Liam Gallagher. Există şi alte nume pe care le iei în considerare la următoarele piese?
Death in Vegas: Bineînţeles că mai sunt persoane cu care mi-ar plăcea să colaborez, dar nu ca Death in Vegas, ci mai mult ca producător.
InfoMusic: Atunci când creezi, când compui muzică, te izolezi. Ce sentimente te încearcă după, atunci când îţi reasculţi muzica?
Death in Vegas: Pentru mine, izolarea este extrem de importantă atunci când creez, dar este o sabie cu două tăişuri, pentru că mai apoi am uneori probleme în a mă reintegra în societatea normală. Dar, odată terminată piesa la care am lucrat, nu mai simt nevoia s-o reascult.
InfoMusic: Cum alegi titlurile pieselor? Care este reţeta perfectă pentru un titlu, care-l face atrăgător publicului?
Death in Vegas: Ţinând cont că eu sunt singurul membru Death in Vegas, eu aleg titlurile pieselor şi cred că singura condiţie este să fie potrivit cântecului. Nu mă gândesc la public, pur și simplu ştiu dacă o piesă va fi Death inVegas sau nu, sau va purta semnătura Black Acid (proiect adiacent al lui Richard Fearless). Eu niciodată nu încep să scriu ceva strict pentru Death in Vegas, ci totul capătă formă pe parcurs şi ia traiectoria pe care o vrea.
InfoMusic: Ce preferinţe ai, un concert live sau studio şi de ce?
Death in Vegas: Prefer oricând varianta studio, pentru că live este prea stresant şi nu mă prea omor să repet show-urile.
InfoMusic: Eşti implicat în proiecte care ţin de modă, de producţia de albume, creezi muzică, ce altceva ţi-ai mai dori să faci dacă ai mai avea timp?
Death in Vegas: În momentul de faţă lucrez la un art show, aşa că pot să spun că sunt super mulţumit cu ceea ce se întâmplă în viaţa mea, acum.
InfoMusic: Ca şi glumă, ai avut vreun concert în Vegas? Să-i auzi pe toţi strigând "Hey, look, Death's in town!!"
Death in Vegas: Am un articol dintr-un ziar, din Vegas, care scrie „Briton leapt to Death in Vegas”, dar nu am cântat niciodată acolo. Trebuia să se întâmple, dar MTV a venit cu o mulţime de tâmpenii…long story.
InfoMusic: Peste puţin timp, pentru prima oară, vei avea un concert în Bucureşti. La ce te aştepţi de la publicul de aici?
Death in Vegas: N-am fost niciodată în România şi chiar abia aştept să vin şi, să fiu sincer, nu ştiu la ce să mă aştept.
InfoMusic: Dacă ai putea descrie muzica Death in Vegas în trei cuvinte, care ar fi acelea?
Death in Vegas: Psychedelic Head Music.

(English Version) Death in Vegas: “Isolation is very important to me when I create, but can also have its own problems”
He doesn’t look back , he is just thinking about the future, he has a lot of projects that keep him busy, he creates incredible songs he never listens to again and he is looking forward to coming to Bucharest, to the concert. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Death in Vegas, TimeShift, on the 20th of July.
InfoMusic: You have almost two decades of music, concerts and thrills on stage. What do you see when you look back?
Death in Vegas: I don’t like to look back really and not interested in what I’ve done in the past to tell the truth, just thinking about the future and whats on the horizon. The main reason is that I feel that if you concentrate too much on the past it can effect the creative process too much and as an artist I’m constantly trying to push myself forwards.
InfoMusic: Last year you released a new album, Transmission, that features vocals by former pornstar Sasha Grey. How did this collaboration with Sasha Grey appear? Was it because she was a fan of Throbbing.
Death in Vegas: I knew I wanted to work with an actor rather than a vocalist. I had been working with young actors on a different project and really enjoyed the process of rehearsing with someone who took direction well and was not too locked in their own vocal style as most singers tend to be. I knew Sasha was a fan of Death in Vegas, wrote, was an actor and the fact that she had worked with Throbbing Gristle and was into Chris and Cosey helped a lot, yes.

InfoMusic: In all these years you were responsible for a lot of great albums and you collaborated with great musicians like Iggy Pop or Liam Gallagher. Is there any other name you have in mind, for your next songs?
Death in Vegas: Sure there’s people I’d like to work with but not as Death in Vegas, more as a producer.
InfoMusic: When you create, when you make the music, you isolate yourself. What feelings do you have when you listen to your music, after that?
Death in Vegas: I know when it feels right and struggle when it feels wrong, isolation is very important to me when I create but can also have its own problems, as I then struggle to fit into regular society sometimes. But yeah once the music is finished i have no desire to listen to it again.
InfoMusic: What’s the perfect recipe for a good title, in order to be more appealing for the audience?
Death in Vegas: I am the sole member of Death in Vegas, so I choose the song titles, it just has to be right for the song I guess. I don’t think about an audience, I just know when a song feels like its a Death inVegas one or not. Sometimes it goes straight into the Richard Fearless realm, the other its Death in Vegas or Black Acid. I don’t start out to write a Death in Vegas track it just takes its own direction and falls into one camp or the other.
InfoMusic: What do you prefer, a live concert or the studio and why?
Death in Vegas: Studio, live I find it too stressful and don’t really enjoy the repetition of shows.
InfoMusic: You are into fashion, you produce albums, you create music, what else would you like to do if you had time?
Death in Vegas: I’m currently working on an art show, I’d say I’m pretty content with what’s going on right now.
InfoMusic: As a small joke, have you ever had a concert in Vegas? I bet the people were like "Hey, look, Death's in town!!"
Death in Vegas: I have a newspaper clipping from Vegas that says ‘Briton leapt to Death in Vegas’ but no I’ve never played there, was going to years ago but MTV forced us to do some other shit…long story.
InfoMusic: Soon you’ll have a concert in Bucharest, for the first time. What should we expect?
Death in Vegas: I’ve never been to Romania and am really looking forward to coming, show wise I have no idea what to expect.
InfoMusic: If you could choose three words to describe Death in Vegas music, what would that be?
Death in Vegas: Psychedelic Head Music.
