Ceremonia a avut loc la Universitatea Columbia, iar Lamar a fost întâmpinat cu un ropot de aplauze. Premiul Pulitzer pentru muzică a fost oferit, de-a lungul istoriei, doar artiștilor jazz și de muzică clasică.

Kendrick Lamar a avut un discurs scurt, spunând următoarele:

“Este o onoare. Am scris toată viața mea, așa că momentul în care am primit acest tip de recunoaștere este de neuitat.”

Premiile Pulitzer au loc încă din anul 1943, iar în fiecare an această distincție este oferită "unei compoziții muzicale inedite, de dimensiuni importante, cu autor american".

Albumul lui Lamar din 2017, "DAMN", a primit acest premiu în 2018, iar juriul a descris materialul ca fiind "o colecție de piese pline de vituozitate". Versurile melodiilor de pe materialul discografic reușesc să ofere "o imagine complexă a vieții african-americane moderne".

Kendrick Lamar a avut 15 nominalizări la premiile Billboard, reușind să plece acasă cu 6 trofee. Albumul "DAMN" a fost de trei ori Certificat cu Platină, iar piesa "Humble" a fost pe locul întâi în Billboard Hot 100. Mai mult de atât, materialul discografic a câștigat și un premiu Grammy pentru "Best Rap Album" și numeroase alte distincții.

Nominalizările la Premiile Grammy 2023 au fost anunţate

Pe 15 noiembrie 2022 au fost anunţate nominalizările la Premiile Grammy, ediţia 2023, care pare a fi mai disputată ca oricând. La urma urmei venim după un an în care am primit muzică nouă de la Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Hary Styles şi Taylor Swift. Lista completă cu nominalizaţii se poate regăsi mai jos.

Numele nominalizaţilor la Premiile Grammy din 2023 au fost anunţate public în cadrul unui livestream ţinut pe YouTube pe 15 noiembrie. Ceremonia va avea loc pe 5 februarie 2023, aceasta fiind ediţia cu numărul 65 a Premiilor Grammy. Beyonce este cap de afiş de pe lista proaspăt anunţată, cu nu mai puţin de 9 nominalizări, inclusiv la categoria "Cel mai bun album". Imediat după vine Kendrick Lamar, cu 8 nominalizări. Adele are 7 nominalizări pentru noul său LP, în vreme ce Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled şi Future împart postura de a fi sextuplu nominalizaţi.

Jay-Z are 5 menţiuni. Se anunţă o gală dificilă, fiind pentru prima dată când Adele şi Beyonce concurează la categoriile de foc "Piesa", "Albumul" şi "Înregistrarea" Anului din 2017 încoace. Pe atunci Adele s-a impus, câştigând toate 3 categoriile. Privind spre viitor, la categoria "Best New Artist" îi găsim pe cei de la Maneskin, dar şi pe un act muzical mai fresh, Wet Leg.
